Examples of Michael's handmade glass art

All the glass is handmade.

Look in the glass series below and see examples of my glass art.

Each glass series must resemble nature. Just as nature is varied, the individual glass series also have variants within colors, structures and shapes.

Michael Kofod

Can you unite wildness and harmony?

Isn’t it exactly what Michael Kofod’s glass art does?

The purpose of Michael’s glass art is to create enjoyment, delight and different moods.

Simply put: Art for ordinary happy people!

Michael aims to achieve this by:

  • The structure of the glass:
Michael makes the crude glass himself for most of his work of art, in the attempt of creating unique structures and patterns in multiple layers.
  • The transparency of the glass:
Michael often mixes transparent glass into his designs, to create depth, refractions and small 3D-experiences.
  • The shape of the glass:
Michael prefers to work with large organic and sculptural shapes, but also makes smaller designs that are more conservative.
  • The color of the glass:
Michael always uses bright, clean, strong and warm colors that matches each other as well as the particular design. Sometimes I even make my colors by mixing colored glass.

The Danish nature is the primary source of inspiration that Michael uses. It is beautiful, shimmering, wild, unpredictable, indomitable and completely without straight lines. That’s how Michael wishes his art to be seen.

Michael has been trained by world-famous Canadian glass artist Bob Leatherbarrow, among others.

Michael's glass has been exhibited alongside HRH Prince Henry's African masks and it has been exhibited alongside some of Salvador Dali's sculptures.
